UN and Cook Islands to consult next steps of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027

The UNSDCF 2023-2027 is the blueprint for the work of the UN across 14 Pacific Island countries over the next five years
The Cook Islands as one of the 14 countries of the Pacific supported under the UNSDCF 2023 – 2027 gave its endorsement and signed this five year framework for development support to the Pacific on the 31 October, 2022.
This month, relevant ministries and partners, with the UN Country Team (UNCT) for the Cook Islands Niue Samoa and Tokelau, will consult the Country Implementation Plan (CIP) for the Cook Islands.
Prior to the consultation, the Resident Coordinator Simona Marinescu joined by members of the UNCT paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Tepauru Herrmann.
At this meeting, the Resident Coordinator Simona Marinescu shared an overview of the UNSDCF 2023-2027 and the need to consult the Country Implementation Plans for Cook Islands.
The CIP is a planning tool that operationalizes either jointly or individually by agencies, all UN actions, and deliverables towards the realization of the key outcomes identified within the UNSDCF 2023-2027. The CIP provides a comprehensive list of all UN interventions by all UN agencies, which needs to be consulted and validated by the Government of Cook Islands.
The meeting also discussed the progress of UN Joint Programs in Cook Islands and common areas of interest for future collaborations.
The Secretary Tepauru Herrman acknowledged the visit by the Resident Coordinator and the UNCT members and the opportunity to discuss the work of the UN and and areas for stronger UN and Cook Islands relations.
